Continued Conversation With Maryam Abdulkarim Sulaiman Popularly Known as Maryam Sangandale
You were singing songs in the past and now, then there was news that you got married, are you still singing or have you stopped singing now?
I still sing because my fans said they wanted to hear me sing their songs, so I continued because that is my profession, I still sing, I honestly haven’t stopped [Smile].
What is more difficult, singing or writing?
The most difficult thing for me is, thinking about how to sing it, saying I will sing it on the air, that is difficult for me, because my ‘tune’ is in the middle or low, but the air is not mine, it is very difficult for me.
In terms of writing and putting the words that I will put in the song, I have to go and seek help to write the song, especially the melody that I will sing to make it feel the way I want.
Do you have a mentor in the field of music since when?
But colleagues, I don’t really have a mentor. My mentor is the one who brought me into the music industry, the late Alh. , may God have mercy on him.
Is there any challenge you have ever faced because of music?
The challenge is, if you say that she is a slut, this privilege will be a slut.
You can’t separate the members of the parliament who are not involved in doing evil and gossiping, but they insult every woman who goes out to find her own, they have made money with the one who is indecency and throws her out of their house, and the one who goes to seek her destruction, then they all have the same punishment for us, so I took this challenge of insulting but may God reward us only.
Speaking of achievements, what kind of achievements have you achieved through music?
Alhamdulillah, I built a house, I went to perform the obligatory prayer in the holy land, I took my father to perform Hajj, my mother and I went for Umrah, I drove cars with those that were given to me and the phones that I bought with my own money, I bought 8 plots of land, I went to other countries, all in the achievements of music and helped those that God has given me the opportunity to help in different ways.

If you were asked to distinguish for the readers the difference between the past and the present songs, along with their meanings, what would you say?
Yes, well! The songs of today are of the present time, and some are pleasant, some have meaning, and they convey the message where they want to go.
The songs of the past are also sermons with enlightenment and education, and you will hear the listeners of the past, and the present saying that they enjoy the past more because they find peace in listening to the songs because there is a balance.
As for the rest, you will get more detailed information and their reasons from the listeners.
Among the songs that you have sung or written, which song is your favorite, and why?
It is a song that I dedicated to the Most Excellent Creator, the Prophet of Mercy, the Prophet of Salvation. May Allah increase his blessings and favors. Allahumma Amen, O Allah, it is in it that I say “The Imam of the Prophets, the One who ascended and israel, you have surpassed all creation, you have worshipped Allah”.
This is my favorite.
Is there any progress or lack of progress in the field of poetry that you think exists now, unlike in the past?
Aaaa! There has been a lot of progress in this field of poetry, and because of the times, the field of poetry has been developed in various fields, by God, Alhamdulillah, there has been no failure in this field.
If there has been any, then it is not that which has not refined the work of poetry on its part.
But now, if there is any improvement in the field of poetry, it is to refine the language and improve the pen of your thoughts that Allah has made you speak pure words that will benefit both adults and children from what you have said in your poetry.
What is your future goal regarding music or singing?
My goal is, I have made a music foundation, especially female singers, and we have made sacrifices, so that our children can benefit our grandchildren and the rest of the community where we are, that is, our friends.
And let’s say that these songs are dedicated to the Muslim community and Islam [Smile].
Who is your best friend among singers?
Honestly, I don’t have a best friend, they are all my friends and elders outside of me, if you can, then you are my best friend.
What advice would you give to those who are trying to get into the music industry?
For God’s sake, enter with a single heart and respect for those around you, with physical cleanliness, with language, and be patient in everything you encounter, one day you will tell the story, you will say I told you.
By God, you will reach your goals of what made you enter the music industry and enter with maturity, my brothers.
Do you have any advice for other singers?
Let us love each other between ourselves and God, and continue to be patient with each other, for the sake of God, let us respect each other more wherever we meet, let us be one Mother and one Father, for the sake of enjoying our entire life, you heard.
What do you have to say to your lovers, the listeners of your songs?
By God, I love you as much as you love me because my songs have impressed you, for the sake of God, include me in your daily prayers, or not at all.
Because prayer has an effect on a loved one, where is this request from you, the lovers of my songs.
